Luigi Di Biagio ItalyItaly U21 coach Luigi Di Biagio is satisfied with his side’s 1-0 win over the Republic of Ireland U21.

The victory means the Azzurri keep their 100% start to their Euro U21 2017 qualifiers, despite finding it difficult to open the scoring and also going down to ten men in the second half.

“We suffered a lot and we did not play like we usually do, but we are satisfied because we have shown some important qualities,” Di Biagio told reporters after the match.

“I expected a game like that, a battle is not unusual against this kind of team.

“It was hard but the result is positive.”

The 44-year-old then commented on the fact that Italy are yet to concede a goal in their qualifiers, thanking the defence as a whole.

“It’s useless to name names, but when you have such skill in defence it becomes much easier,” he said.
