Fiorentina are determined to thrash out a new contract with defender Marcos Alonso in the coming weeks, meanwhile the Viola could also offer a renewal to midfielder Matias Fernandez.

Alonso joined the club from English side Bolton Wanderers in 2013 but is now into the final year of his deal at the Stadio Artemio Franchi and Viola sporting director Daniele Prade is eager to extend the Spaniard’s stay.

According to La Nazione, Fiorentina will meet with Alonso’s agent in a bid to come to an agreement on a renewal for the former Sunderland player with the Viola determined to conclude negotiations before January when the player is allowed to talk to other clubs.

Meanwhile, the league leaders also want to agree a deal with Fernandez but are prepared to wait until January until coach Paolo Sousa decides on the player’s future with the Chilean’s former club Colo Colo reportedly keen on resigning the 29-year-old.
