Former Biancocelesti goalkeeper and assistant coach Fernando Orsi has weighed in on Lazio’s current squad and their recent resurgence after a mixed start to the season.

The Italian feels that the club have made positive strides despite missing some key players due to injury, but he did not hesitate to identify the club’s failures in the transfer market.

“I think that Lazio could do more in the transfer market,” Orsi said on the ‘I Laziali Sono Qua’ radio programme.

“Instead of taking only younger players, 26 or 27-year-old players with pedigree are also important.

“With activity like that in the transfer market, Lazio could have been better early in the season.”

The Rome native followed with his analysis of Stefano Pioli’s impact on the club and the potential Scudetto race.

“Pioli has created a different mindset in this team,” Orsi went on.

“He’s done many good things, he’s also made mistakes at times.

“His positive impact outweighs the shortcomings.

“This year there may be some [Scudetto] surprises like Inter, Fiorentina, Napoli, Roma and why not Lazio?

“Provided that they can become consistent in terms of performances and results.”
