Former Torino and Bologna goalkeeper Jean-Francois Gillet saved an incredible three penalties against Anderlecht on the weekend.

Playing for Belgians Mechelen on loan from Serie B side Catania, the 36-year-old outsmarted three separate players from the penalty spot to secure a remarkable 1-1 away draw.

Wonderkid Dennis Praet was first to see his spot-kick saved by the Belgium international after just seven minutes.

Former Serie A hitman Stefano Okaka stepped up seven minutes later but he too saw his shot saved by the diving man between the sticks.

Finally, late on, midfield favourite Youri Tielemans was outfoxed by Gillet, in a denial which would ultimately result in Mechelen grabbing a last-gasp equaliser.

Anderlecht’s coach was suitably bemused after the final whistle, and said that he was surprised by Gillet’s show-stopping goalkeeping despite his height, with the player standing at 5ft 11in.
