Keisuke Honda - AC Milan's number 10.AC Milan attacking midfielder Keisuke Honda stated that the club’s problems are obvious but they are yet to be properly addressed.

The Japanese international insisted that the players should not be blamed as the majority of them are internationals who have performed elsewhere and there are external factors inhibiting them for the Rossoneri.

“Milan’s problems are very clear, not least because they’re always the same,” said Honda according to La Gazzetta dello Sport after his side’s 4-0 home defeat at the hands of Napoli.

“Looking at the past few years, it’s clear that you cannot rebuild without spending a lot of money like how Paris Saint-Germain or Manchester City have done.

“You do that or otherwise you have to re-evaluate the club’s structure.

“Fans, management and the players must all be aware of the situation.”

The former CSKA Moscow midfielder also refuted coach Sinisa Mihajlovic’s suggestion that the mentality of the players is to blame.

“I can’t understand that, it doesn’t make sense to blame the players,” added Honda.

“In the last few years Milan have had loads of players and €100 million was spent over the summer.

“There are lots of internationals but they still can’t perform when it comes to Milan.

“In order to rebuild the club we must change how it is evaluated, be that from the fans, media, directors or the coach.

“Otherwise it will take another five to 10 years.

“I know that I will be criticised for making these comments but they are important for the future of the club.”
