Javier Zanetti is adamant Inter are still improving despite their recent slump in Serie A.

Inter draw at Sampdoria 1-1 at the weekend after losing 3-0 to Fiorentina the previous week but Zanetti still believes coach Roberto Mancini is doing a great job.

“This Inter team is growing,” Zanetti told Radio Rai.

“We needed a reaction after the defeat to Fiorentina and we knew things were going to be tough away at Sampdoria.

“I saw a team that reacted to the disappointment against Fiorentina.

“Inter still have a lot of room for improvement and Mancini is doing a super job.”

Zanetti then went onto speak about new signing Ivan Perisic and the chances of Inter winning Serie A for the first time since 2010.

“Perisic had a great game against Sampdoria,” Zanetti continued.

“He not only scored but he did some great defensive work.

“Especially in the second half he attacked and defended really well.

“I think it is too early to talk about the scudetto.

“I would not take 3rd place right now as Serie A is very tight and anything is possible.”

Zanetti concluded by talking about Inter’s next game which is against rivals Juventus.

“The Juventus match is going to be very important,” Zanetti added.

“We have two weeks to prepare for the game, although it is a shame that there is an international break and so many of our players will not be able to train with us.”
