Inter forward Stevan Jovetic has responded angrily to speculation regarding a reported rift between himself and the club’s staff, including coach Roberto Mancini.

There have been suggestions that the former Fiorentina star has fallen out with Mancini and the club’s medical staff after flying to Germany to get another opinion on his calf injury, but, speaking on social media, Jovetic denied the claims.

“I keep reading absurd things that, frankly, I don’t understand,” he posted on his official Facebook page.

“I want to clarify the situation and make it very clear.

“There is no problem between myself and the medical staff or the coach, Mr Mancini.

“There was no sneaking off on a trip to Germany, I simply went there for a check-up, which was authorised by the club and I was accompanied by an Inter official.

“I’m obligated, like everyone else, to answer the call of my national team.

“So, now I’m here and I’m training apart from the rest of the squad.

“My medical situation will be evaluated each day, there is no rift between anyone.”

Jovetic injured his calf in the warm up ahead of Inter’s 4-1 defeat against Fiorentina, although he is in line to make his return for the Nerazzurri after the international break against Juventus.
