Antonio Conte ItalyFollowing Italy’s qualification for next years European Championships head coach Antonio Conte is hoping that his work will be enough to prepare his side for a strong showing in the tournament set for France.

Conte surprisingly left Juventus to replace Cesare Prandelli last summer at the reins of the national team, following Italy’s disappointing group-stage exit in the 2014 World Cup.

Despite finishing top of Group H with 24 points during qualification, the Italians will enter the contest unseeded.

“Playing the role of protagonists [in France] gives me great responsibility, but also great pride.” Conte posted on his official Facebook page.

“I know Italy is behind us, supporting us, and pushing us.

“I hope to prepare a little war machine,” he added.

While the former Juventus boss is staying focused on next summer’s tournament, he is also set to face a preliminary hearing in February for alleged sporting fraud during his time at Siena, which could impact his role with the team.

Following their victories over Azerbaijan and Norway, the Azzurri will next test their form against number one ranked Belgium, in an international friendly to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Heysel Stadium disaster this November.
