Rolando Maran CataniaChievo coach Rolando Maran believes his side deserved to beat Hellas Verona.

The season’s first Derby della Scala ended as a 1-1 draw on Saturday night with a Lucas Castro goal cancelling out an Eros Pisano effort.

“We deserved to get all three points and I am sorry for the players who put in all their effort,” Maran told the press after the match.

“We suffered from their attack a bit in the beginning but with patience we managed to recover.”

The Italian tactician then talked about the signings he made during the summer, such as the two people involved in the goal in Castro and Massimo Gobbi.

“They are all motivated players as well as being good players, they have integrated into the team well,” he said.

The 52-year-old then concluded by showing his optimism for the remainder of the season for the Flying Donkeys, with them currently sitting fourth in the Serie A league table.

“This team can only get better,” he said.

“The positioning in the league table shows all the hard work they put in during the week.”
