Chievo boss Rolando Maran has praised his men for their impressive start to the season and revealed that he’s very satisfied with their ranking at the moment.

The Flying Donkeys currently sit in seventh place on the Serie A table with 12 points and the tactician admits that while he’s happy with his team’s showings thus far, he still understands that there are many games left to go in the campaign.

Maran spoke to Sky Sport Italia about Chievo’s successful start to the 2015-16 season and their mission to once again attain salvation, while also commenting on the league standings.

“The boys deserve a lot of praise, they’re working well together and it shows on the field,” said the 52-year-old.

“Everyone must do their part and these men have continued to do just that since the start of the season.

“Salvation? Earning 12 points in seven games is a good haul, but we shouldn’t get ahead of ourselves because the season is long and the Serie A is a tough league.

“The league standings? I’m not surprised to see Fiorentina in first place. The thing that surprises me the most is seeing some of the big teams that have gotten off to a bad start.

“The Viola have a quality team and they have found the right tactics to do well.”
