Mertens-603x300Napoli winger Dries Mertens believes that his side are on the right path to improving their away form after their 2-0 win against Legia Warsaw in the Europa League.

The Partenopei struggled to make the breakthrough in the first half but eventually secured the three points through a rare headed goal from Mertens and another from Gonzalo Higuain.

“We played well in the second half but it was difficult for us to do better in the first, as they were all behind the ball,” said Mertens to Sky Sport Italia.

“My header? We work on set plays a lot in training and the coach always wants the winger to cut in when there is a cross to the near post, it’s even better when it happens during open play.”

The Belgian then looked forward to this weekend’s game against AC Milan.

“We know that we have to do better away from home and proved what we can do that tonight,” Mertens went on.

“We must continue like this and hope to do well against Milan at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Sunday.”
