Juventus striker Alvaro Morata has expressed his delight after equaling Alessandro Del Piero’s record of five goals in five consecutive Champions League matches in the side’s 2-0 win over Sevilla on Wednesday evening.

The 22-year-old reached the goal-scoring feat when he rose above two defenders to head home four minutes from half-time with a late strike from Simone Zaza ensuring that the Bianconeri continued to sit atop Group D with a maximum six points.

Nevertheless, Morata has urged his teammates to continue working hard and hopes their form on the European stage will translate into positive results in the Serie A.

“It is a pride for me to do what he did Del Piero, who is a football legend in the world of Juventus, but I do still a lot to do to be like him,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“We must continue to work hard, we must forget about this victory and think about the championship where things are not going well.

“We know what we have to do, we need play well and give everything on the field, that way we can also go back to the top of Serie A.

“I’m working to make my mark in the league, but there is more difficult because there are so many areas to improve. But I think that I will succeed.”

Juventus will be hoping to build on their victory in the Champions League when they take on Bologna on October 4.
