ac milan napoli lorenzo insigneFormer Napoli midfielder Fernando De Napoli says he has been impressed with the Partenopei under new coach Maurizio Sarri and has reserved special praise for forward Lorenzo Insigne and midfielder Allan.

Napoli have finally managed to click into gear under Sarri and have underlined their threat as contenders for the Scudettoand De Napoli says the former Empoli boss deserves credit for their impressive form.

“Both are doing well, as are the whole Napoli team,” De Napoli told Tuttomercatoweb concerning Allan and Insigne.

“Sarri has organised his squad well and the credit for the performances must go to the coach.”

De Napoli insists he does not agree with calls to give Insigne the club’s number 10 shirt saying that it may create unnecessary pressure on the forward.

“Insigne? I hope his recent injury isn’t serious, he’s been in great form and I hope he can continue like this,” added the former Napoli midfielder.

“There are others who would like to give him the number 10 jersey.

“I played with Diego [Maradona] who remains the best in history, there can be no comparison, although Lorenzo has personality and wouldn’t refuse to wear the number.

“However, the shirt can be a good thing as well as a bad thing as it could put too much pressure on him.

“I think he should continue wearing the number 24 shirt which has so far served him well.”

De Napoli also says he can see similarities in the Partenopei’s new signing Allan and his former team-mate Alemao.

“He [Allan] has already scored three goals which means he has settled well in Naples,” continued De Napoli.

“Alemao came to Napoli eager to win something with the club and Allan shares with him a similar playing style and determination.

“Yes, the two are alike.”
