Newcastle United are reportedly plotting a move to bring Arsenal full-back Mathieu Debuchy back to the club, from under the noses of Juventus.

The Bianconeri have registered interest recently after suffering an injury to Stephan Lichtsteiner and seeing Martin Caceres involved in a car accident, but could now face a challenge from Newcastle for the January signing.

Sky Sports report that the coach of the Magpies, Steve McClaren, is looking towards an old fan favourite to solve the defensive problems which have seen them fall to the bottom of the English Premier League table.

Debuchy is struggling for game time at Arsenal after being displaced by Spanish starlet Hector Bellerin, and the 30-year-old may yet decide that it is time to move on with Euro 2016 on the horizon.

The right-back is an international for host nation France, and despite featuring in the last two major international tournaments is currently out of the squad with Christophe Jallet and Bacary Sagna favoured.
