Inter in their 1-1 draw.

Luis Muriel gave the hosts the lead at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, but Ivan Perisic scored his first goal for the Nerazzurri to deny Samp and Zenga was impressed with his side’s mentality during the game.

“We are pleased with the performance and the fact that we always play to win. We played a good game,” Zenga told reporters after the match.

“Congratulations to my team, in my opinion we deserved to win.

“I would have liked to have seen Muriel or [Joaquin] Correa add a second goal as at 2-0 we would have killed the game off.

“We took to the field today with the right determination and I was pleased with our mentality.”

Zenga then went onto praise his former side Inter.

“They [Inter] are not top of the table by chance, they are a strong team,” he continued.

“I have nothing to blame my players for, because the goal for them came from a rebound in the area. It happens.”
