Despite a promising start to the season, the Blucerchiati’s form has been somewhat inconsistent recently, experiencing a disappointing 2-1 loss to Atalanta in their most recent clash.

Coach Walter Zenga will be wanting his players to atone for that poor showing, as his team lie in ninth place on 10 points.

As for the Nerazzurri, a week ago they appeared unstoppable after winning their first five Serie A games, however the club was swiftly brought back to reality when they were trounced 4-1 at home by a determined Fiorentina outfit.

Boss Roberto Mancini will be hoping that shock result was just an anomaly in his side’s quest to obtain the Scudetto this season.

In the corresponding fixture last season it was Il Doria who mustered a surprise 1-0 victory over the Milanese outfit, courtesy of striker Eder’s second-half goal, which ended an eight game windless streak. Incidentally, it was the club’s first win against Inter since September 2009.

In terms of team news, Zenga will again have to do without centre-back Matias Silvestre who was withdrawn from the clash against Roma after 29 minutes with a muscular injury. Niklas Moisander is expected to continue as the Argentine’s replacement, while Antonio Cassano may start from the outset, after coming on as a substitute in the previous outing.

Meanwhile, Inter’s Jeison Murillo remains a potential inclusion as he waits for his fitness to be evaluated after a two week absence.

Mancini will be deprived of his other regular centre-back in Miranda, who is suspended following his dismissal against La Viola, with Andrea Ranocchia likely to supersede the Brazilian. Forward Stevan Jovetic is another absentee, after he sustained a thigh strain in the warm-up for the Fiorentina clash.
