Paulo SousaFiorentina coach Paulo Sousa declared that his side must adapt to playing with a lot on the line as big fixtures are a sign of the club’s improvement.

The Portuguese tactician also insisted that the Viola are not prioritising their Serie A clash with Roma over their Europa League engagement at home to Lech Poznan.

“We’re very alert ahead of the Lech Poznan game,” said Sousa at his pre-match press conference.

“We want the big matches like against Roma on Sunday to become a regular occasion for Fiorentina.

“We always want to play in an intense atmosphere as we know that such enthusiasm is a reward for our hard work.

“Tomorrow [against Poznan] we must play at our best and in the right way.

“Even the games that look easy on paper must respected and then only after that game is finished can we start looking ahead to Roma.

“I haven’t seen the Giallorossi play in the Champions League because we’ve been entirely focused on the Europa League.

“The players need to keep working, even those who have had less playing time as tomorrow some of them will get a chance to show what they can do.

“I aim to transmit my mentality to the players and I haven’t yet seen lapses in concentration.

“We want to win from the first minute to the last and tomorrow we must display lots of intensity and focus.”

The Viola boss was also asked about the excitement surrounding Giuseppe Rossi’s return to fitness.

“It’s normal, this city has seen him play at the highest level,” added Sousa.

“We are working well with him and we are convinced that he can return to his previous form, we must all put the effort in as he is already doing.

“He’s returning to being the player he once was and he’ll need to get some playing time but he will have the chance to play consistently soon.”
