Fiorentina coach Paulo Sousa has readied his team for what he believes to be a tough test against an in-form Atalanta on Sunday evening.

La Viola sit top of the league after demolishing Inter away 4-1 last week, and coach Paulo Sousa hopes to continue the momentum into their next game against Atalanta, in order to stay at the top.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Sousa addressed the issues which he believes his side must focus on, and his desire to remain in first place.

“It is difficult to prepare for games like this in just a few days as we have to move on immediately from our last game,” He told journalists.

“It is important to stay focused.

“Atalanta are a strong team, they have lost only one game, they have the second best defense in the league and they come here off the back of two consecutive victories.

“They have also had more time to prepare than us, but we just need to continue our positive momentum.

“I don’t think my players need any great motivation, being first in the table has given us encouragement and dreaming of the title doesn’t hurt.

“We want to achieve perfection and we know that in certain games we will need maximum concentration and a huge effort.”

Giuseppe Rossi played the whole 90 minutes in their midweek Europa League fixture and even scored a goal, however Sousa gave no hints on whether the Italian will start the upcoming game.

“Rossi is working very hard to return to his level,” He continued.

“He has a strong desire to play and he has continuity in his work which improves day by day.

“I’m happy for him because we took another step, this time mentally thanks to a goal [agaisnt Belenenses] that will help him grow even more.”
