Genoa in their Sunday afternoon Serie A encounter.

Striker Antonio Di Natale scored his 190th league goal for the club in the first half, before Diego Perotti equalised from the spot.

The first shot of the game went the way of the visitors, Perotti letting fly from outside the box, but Orestis Karnezis saved it comfortably. A chance at the other end fell to Di Natale, but Eugenio Lamanna stopped him chipping the ball acrobatically.

Karnezis went one better then his opposite number moments later, stopping Serge Gakpe scoring a near post header from a corner. The second half began in very much the same vein, but it wasn’t long before the hosts took the lead. Felipe with the long ball forward which wasn’t dealt with by the Genoa defenders, allowing Di Natale to pounce and poke the ball past Lamanna.

The Grifone did see the ball nestle in the back of the Udinese goal, but there was a foul before Nicolas Burdisso thought he’d levelled the score. Despite their frustration, Genoa were awarded a penalty when Danilo fouled Gakpe in the area. Diego Perotti stepped up and placed his penalty past Karnezis very casually to level the score for the away side.

Udinese very nearly conceded a second, substitute Leonardo Pavoletti driving low and hard, but straight into the path of Karnezis. Marquinho thought he’d won it for the hosts, but Lamanna denied him after a wonderful run. Then Silvan Widmer hit the crossbar from the resultant corner. Both sides held on to take a point.

Neither side make particular progress in the league standings, both residing near the foot of the table.
