AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli will undergo surgery for an ongoing groin problem in Germany on Wednesday.
The enigmatic striker looked on course for a potential resurgence with Milan after arriving on-loan from Liverpool, but he has now been set back due to persistent injury problems.
According to an announcement on AC Milan’s official website, the 25-year-old will be operated on in Munich by specialist Professor Ulrike Muschaweck, after a conservative form of therapy proved insufficient for the forward’s recovery.
Following the procedure, the club will be without the services of ‘Super Mario’ until the new year.
Balotelli made four appearances for the Diavolo this season, two as a starter. His single goal came from a superb free kick that led to a man of the match performance in the 3-2 victory over Udinese.
