massimiliano allegri juventusJuventus coach Massimiliano Allegri hopes that a ruthless showing from his side away at Palermo will help the Bianconeri to find consistency.

The 48-year-old was also reluctant to talk about formations in great depth as he believes that it is the quality of the players and their spirit which makes the real difference.

“The Palermo game will be very difficult and we must approach it aggressively,” Allegri told reporters.

“We’ll play in an environment where everybody will be pushing them on to beat Juventus.

“We must be as ruthless as we have been in the last few games, we need to start picking up results with consistency if we want to get out of this limbo where we float between fifth and sixth place.”

The Bianconeri boss also discussed the differences between European and domestic football after they went top of Champions League Group D by beating Manchester City.

“It’s not the case that we are more focused in Europe, we have had a lot of injuries at the start of the season,” Allegri went on.

“We have been improving in terms of our fitness and individual ability.

“It’s the results that count in the end.

“A team doesn’t become bad just because it doesn’t pick up results for a while, you have to work better and keep your self-belief up.

“We’re coming into this game on the back of three consecutive wins and qualification to the Round of 16 in the Champions League which is the second pre-season objective that we have achieved after winning the Supercoppa Italiana.

“You can see in Serie A that we are doing better too.

“It’s attitude which makes the difference and not formations, when you watch European sides it is the players who make the difference and not the tactics and I tried to implement that here last season. We wanted to improve in Europe and I think we are doing it although there is still a long way to go.

“We have to do a lot to become an important side in Europe, I don’t want to be limited to Serie A.”

The Juventus coach was asked if he feels that striker Alvaro Morata needs to start doing more for the side.

“A great squad needs excellent players,” added Allegri.

“Juventus have four important players up front and then there’s Juan Cuadrado who is a midfielder.

“No more than two of them can play at once but there about 50 games in an entire season so they will all get their chance to play.

“Morata can do brilliant things but at the moment Mario Manduzkic can give us what we need.

“No matter who plays, it is important that Juventus win.

“I’ve always played Patrice Evra but then Alex Sandro has done well when he’s been called upon.”
