Icardi Inter v EmpoliArsenal manager Arsene Wenger has reportedly made Inter captain Mauro Icardi his primary transfer target ahead of the transfer window opening in January.

The Argentine striker has been linked with a move to the Premier League previously, but with the Gunners losing striker Danny Welbeck, speculation over the 22-year old’s future has intensified.

According to The Sun, Arsenal are expected to make a €50 million offer for the captain, who was joint-winner of the Capocannoniere title last year.

Further reports claim that Inter previously rejected an offer of €45m from the London side who currently sit in 4th place.

Despite Nerazzurri president Erick Thohir stating that Icardi is not for sale, the paper speculates that such an offer would be difficult for the Serie A leaders to refuse.

Icardi has struggled to replicate his form of last season so far this campaign, with the Biscione struggling for goals all over the pitch, the Argentine has netted just four times.
