Chievo beat Carpi 2-1 at the Stadio Alberto Braglia on Sunday evening in Serie A to end a seven-game winless run.

Two goals from Roberto Inglese and Riccardo Meggiorini inside the opening 15 minutes of the game were enough for Chievo to be victorious, as Alessandro Gamberini’s own goal in the second half was just a consolation for the home side.

The visiting side started the game very brightly with Valter Birsa and Inglese having shots on goal inside first five minutes.

Inglese won a free-kick on the right wing and he himself gave Chievo the much-deserved lead through a majestic header in the eighth minute of the game from a Birsa set piece.

The Flying Donkeys continued to dominate possession and were rewarded for their hard work again when Meggiorini collected Inglese’s through-ball at the edge of the box before doubling the lead through a left footed shot which found the top right corner of the net.

Minutes later, Carpi had two glorious chances to pull back the scoreline, but Raffaele Bianco failed to find the target in both the situations.

After 30 minutes, Jerry Mbakogu had a glorious chance to bring Carpi back into the game again, but his shot from right edge of the box was an inch wide off the right post.

Carpi were unlucky again when Igor Bubnjic headed Lorenzo Lollo’s free-kick just over the bar in the closing stages of first half.

The home side made an attacking change at half time with Antonio Di Gaudio replacing Lorenzo Pasciuti. The winger had an immediate impact after coming on having a shot on target saved inside the initial five minutes of the second half.

Biancorossi pulled one back at an hour mark through Gamberini’s terrible own goal.

No real chances were created in remaining part of the game on either side of the pitch as Chievo left Modena with all three points.

The results sends the side from Verona up to 13th while Carpi remain bottom.
