Giorgio Chiellini ItalyItaly defender Giorgio Chiellini has registered his disappointment with the nation’s November friendly results.

The Azzurri followed up a 3-1 loss away at Belgium by drawing 2-2 with Romania, and Juventus man Chiellini is well aware that those results are not ideal preparation for Euro 2016, which will be held in France in the summer.

“We are fast approaching the European Championships and we were hoping to do something more with these two friendlies,” he admitted.

“We have to improve, and we have little time to do it,” he continued.

“The basics are there, but we need to find that little bit extra.”

By making an appearance on Tuesday night, his 82nd in an Azzurri shirt, Chiellini entered Italy’s top 10 most capped players, a record he is delighted with.

“I’m happy, it is a great achievement,” he said.

“It’s an important step, but what matters most to me is that we win.”
