Antonio Conte ItalyItaly coach Antonio Conte has said that it is up to the team to make the fans proud with good performances.

The Azzurri emerged from the November international break winless, with two Euro 2016 preparation friendlies resulting in one draw and one loss, an unacceptable record in the former Juventus boss’ opinion.

“Today, there was only one team on the pitch, and it was Italy,” said Conte, praising his side’s actual performance.

However, he was more critical on the result.

“I’m just angry about our lack of success,” he continued.

Italy came back from 1-0 down to take the lead against Romania on Tuesday night, but ended up conceding late on in the second half to muster a draw.

“If we want to make our fans proud in the European Championships then we need to improve with things, we cannot concede five goals from five shots on target.”

Under Conte’s leadership, Italy topped their Euro 2016 qualification group, ahead of Croatia.
