De Sanctis - RomaRoma goalkeeper Morgan De Sanctis is still happy at the club despite summer signing Wojciech Szczesny becoming the team’s number one.

The former Udinese and Napoli man, has made just three appearances in Serie A this season but he refused to say whether he will continue to play past this campaign.

“I am still happy at Roma, I am fine,” De Sanctis told Il Messaggero.

“At the moment I still feel like I am doing my job of being a professional footballer.

“There are good goalkeepers at Roma. As for the role of goalkeeper, I’m thinking less about playing every game and more about quality and continuity of the team’s results.

“A new contract? There’s no hurry, I feel like a player and Roma are my priority. If I decide to keep playing, I’ll do it with Roma.

“I’ll decide together with the club, I am an older player, and I know what my role is and what I have to do.”

De Sanctis then spoke about the recent fan protests at Roma games at the Stadio Olimpico as well as the tragic events in Paris.

“We mustn’t generalise when it comes to the fans,” De Sanctis added.

“There are those who are the majority and who always support the team. The others, I am not sure they are really fans.

“It’s essential to have all our fans in the stadium, they must return and respect the rules set by the authorities.

“They must understand that it’s crucial for us to have them behind us.

“We, as a team, were in constant contact and our team manager informed us that all those connected with Roma who were in Paris were fine.

“It was a terrible night for everyone, for those who were directly involved, but also for those who realised what was going on from their home.”
