Bologna striker Mattia Destro is pleased with his side’s draw against Roma and is determined to keep playing well to claim a place in the Italy squad.

Destro got the equaliser for the Rossoblu from the penalty spot as they drew 2-2 with the Giallorossi on Saturday evening after they came back from 2-1 down to claim a point.

“We played a great game, it would have been a bitter defeat,” Destro told Sky Sport Italia.

“I’m happy for the result and for the goal.

“I’m happy because we have proved to have exceptional character.”

The 24-year-old joined Bologna this summer but had previously played for Roma for three years, along with a loan move to AC Milan, and Destro spoke about his future goals.

“For me it is important to do well here at Bologna,” Destro added.

“The fans have always supported me, even in difficult times.

“I will give it my all to get into the Italy squad.”
