Fiorentina are believed to be interested in signing a defender in the January transfer window and have already identified a number of targets.
The Viola have been in superb form this season and are rather unexpectedly in the thick of the race for the Scudetto with the likes of Inter and Napoli. As a result, the club are now looking for a centre-back to provide defensive cover.
According to La Nazione, the Gigliati are particularly keen on signing Benfica’s Lisandro Lopez, who coach Paulo Sousa has wanted since his appointment.
However, negotiations are thought to be difficult and the club have identified Schalke’s Joel Matip and Fluminense’s Marlon as alternatives.
There is also another option, which is a loan deal for unwanted Inter centre-back Andrea Ranocchia, however, it is believed this would be Fiorentina’s last choice.
