costacurtaAC Milan legend Alessandro Costacurta feels that the Italy defence is in good hands with the new generation of players entering the fold.

The Italians completed an unbeaten Euro 2016 qualification campaign under coach Antonio Conte, conceding seven goals on their way to a first place finish in Group H. As a commentator on Sky Sport Italia, Costacurta offered plenty of compliments for the current defensive setup in the Azzurri side, with emphasis on the players from current Scudetto champions Juventus.

“I think Juventus’ central defenders are still the most reliable,” Costacurta argued.

“Although, there are young players making the push such as Alessio Romagnoli and Daniele Rugani, although the latter has been playing very little.”

The 1994 World Cup runner-up then recounted the time when his international football drew to a close.

“With the arrival of both Alessandro Nesta and Fabio Cannavaro, I decided to walk away from the Azzurri,” Costacurta added.
