Cesare Prandelli has given his thoughts on former side Fiorentina, who currently sit at the head of the Serie A table.

The Viola enjoyed some of their most impressive runs of form under Prandelli during the years 2005-10 and the Lombard born coach believes the club are playing an ever better brand of football under Paulo Sousa than during his reign.

“Fiorentina are a team that run at the highest level,” the former Viola and Italian national team coach told Sky Sport Italia.

“They want to impose and impress themselves on every pitch

“They play a different kind of football from the past few years, they hold the desire to attack even in midfield.

“It is a team that has courage, their rivals can’t counter this.

Prandelli then praised coach Sousa, who took over the team in the summer, before applauding Croatian striker Nikola Kalinic.

“Sousa has his own personality that he brings to the team,” Prandelli continued.

“I also think Kalinic is a modern striker.

“He is able to attack the penalty area like few.

“If he can continue to train well then I believe he can carry this form to the end of the season.”
