Giovinco - Italy v JapanFollowing an incredible debut season with Toronto, Italian striker Sebastian Giovinco is being linked with a potential move to Barcelona.

The 28-year-old found incredible form following his move away from Juventus, having scored 22 goals and produced 16 assists in 33 games, making him the top scorer in Major League Soccer.

The player’s agent Andrea d’Amico told Rai Sport that Giovinco’s success across the Atlantic had not gone unnoticed, as he not only became the second MLS player along with Andrea Pirlo to receive a call-up from Antonio Conte, but also is being considered by Barcelona for a January transfer.

Rumours indicate the Blaugrana’s first choice is Celta Vigo man Nolito, with the Italian or Paris Saint-Germain’s Ezequiel Lavezzi serving as other options.

This is not the first time the Atomic Ant has been linked with the Spanish giants, as he played down such a move back in October, however, d’Amico stated that his client is interested in doing everything he can to secure a spot with the Azzurri for next year’s European Championship in France.

Barcelona, who already posses three of footballs most illustrious strikers, currently sit second in La Liga, and are anticipating the return of their talisman striker, Lionel Messi in time for their upcoming El Clasico with Real Madrid this weekend.
