Genoa SassuoloGenoa coach Gian Piero Gasperini has praised his team’s performance in their late 2-1 win against Sassuolo.

The game was eventful but was truly awoken when Domenico Berardi and Diego Perotti were sent-off following a kick-out by Berardi. In the second-half the Grifone took the lead through Tomas Rincon delightfully curled shot. However, the game’s climax was it’s most endearing quality, as Francesco Acerbi first levelled from a corner in 92nd minute, before Leonardo Pavoletti headed in a breathtaking winner in the last minute of stoppage time.

“We were level in the 94th minute then we scored right after. This shows how crazy this sport can be,” Gasperini told reporters after the game.

“This win is extremely important not only for our position in Serie A but also for our morale, we beat a very good team.

“Now we have another difficult game, we take on Carpi and if we win that game we would climb the table even more. ”

Gasperini was reluctant to talk about the two red cards however, he did lament the loss of star man Perotti.

“I do not want to talk about it, both were correctly sent-off,” Gasperini added.

“I hope Perotti will not be suspended for long,  as for us it is a major loss.

“We are lagging behind past seasons, we have had too many injuries and we have players who have not played a lot in recent seasons.

” We play well in flashes but we need to be more consistent, we hope with this win we can now go on a run.”
