Jovetic Inter AtalantaInter forward Stevan Jovetic isn’t content with a top three finish in Serie A this year and is determined to win the title.

The Montenegrin international joined the Nerzazzurri on loan from Manchester City in the summer and has already established himself as a first team member, starring as one of the keys players in their push towards the top of the league.

“I did not expect [Inter] to be in the lead at this point in the season,” Jovetic told the Corriere dello Sport.

“We are first because we have a lot of hunger to win and although a lot of the players are new, we all work towards the same goal.

“I think we can win the Scudetto.

“Our initial target was the Champions League, but we can do even more than that.

“We can win the Scudetto this year and it would be even better if we can win the Coppa Italia too.”

Despite his lofty ambitions, the forward believes there is no standout team in the title race and tipped his rivals to give a close fight.

“I don’t believe there is a favourite to win the Scudetto, but the I know that the teams which will fight until the end are Inter, Fiorentina, Roma, Juventus and Napoli.” Jovetic added.

The Montenegrin started the season brightly, scoring three goals in his opening two games, though his form has since taken a slight dip following an injury against former side Fiorentina, something which the 26-year-old wants to correct against Napoli on Monday.

“Everyone expects to score goals, but the important thing is to play well and help out my team-mates,” Jovetic continued.

“I do what [coach Roberto] Mancini asks of me and I hope to gain many assists.

“I started well and exceeded what was expected of me, for which I paid the price for with the injury against Fiorentina.

“Hopefully I can break my goal drought against Napoli and I’m still convinced that I can get at least 20 goals this season.”
