Dries Mertens NapoliNapoli winger Dries Mertens is expected to extend his contract with the Partenopei despite reported interest from rivals Inter.

The Nerazzurri have been linked with the Belgium international as they seek to add a wide player to their ranks but with Napoli keen to keep the 28-year-old it looks unlikely that he will make a move to the Stadio Meazza.

According to Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, Mertens is in no rush to leave the Stadio San Paolo and will welcome talks over a new contract, which are said to be imminent.

The former PSV player joined Napoli in June 2013 and has appeared in Serie A 74 times since then, although 33 of these have been from the substitutes bench.

This season Mertens has been behind Lorenzo Insigne in the pecking order for a place on the wing and has managed just three Serie A starts under coach Maurizio Sarri.
