Antonio Conte ItalyItaly coach Antonio Conte feels his team are continuing to grow and that the Azzurri have enough talent to reach the final of Euro 2016.

The Italians’ final performance of 2015 will see them host an international friendly against Romania, who sit just one spot behind the Azzurri in the FIFA World Rankings.

Despite a 3-1 defeat to top-ranked Belgium, the Italian coach remains adamant that Italy can be a protagonist in next year’s tournament.

“I finally feel like this is my team,” Conte told Rai Sport prior to the match against the Tricolorii.

“We found continuity, the team is playing in a way that enthuses the fans.”

The Azzurri coach was then asked of his future with the national team, and stated clearly that his plans are linked to the results the team gets in France.

“Realistically, there are a few teams in front of us [who are favourites for the finals],” added Conte.

“We are still growing, and I am convinced we can be a problem for all of them.

“The semi-final would be a great achievement, but our goal is the final.

“Such a result would help me make the right choice when deciding whether to renew my contract.”

Following Friday’s terrorist attacks throughout Paris, which included an explosion outside of the Stade de Paris where France were hosting Germany, enhanced security measures are being taken for all of the matches across Europe, but the Italy boss still questioned the wisdom of playing.

“It is a shame that we have to play this evening and it makes me angry,” concluded Conte.
