Midfielder Sami Khedira says his move to Juventus has helped him rediscover his passion for playing the sport, and discusses his fight to stay fit.

The German World Cup winner moved to Juventus from Real Madrid as the Bianconeri looked to rebuild following the departures of midfield stars Andrea Pirlo and Arturo Vidal, but has only recently returned to form after struggling with a prolonged muscle injury he sustained during a pre-season friendly with Marseille.

“There are many beautiful things in my life,” he told Kicker, “but football is back at the centre of it all.”

“For the past year, I lost the joy of playing, but I knew moving to Turin would be the solution,” the defensive midfielder added.

“I am happy to say that I’m fit again, and my confidence in my body and my abilities have returned.

“I believe I still have more to offer, but the progress seems clear.”

The 28-year old then spoke of his past difficulties with injuries, which saw him sidelined for the World Cup Final against Argentina, and how he has been working to stay healthy.

“I’ve changed many things since joining Juve, especially my diet, now I eat mostly salads and vegetables with some fish and meat,” he stated.

“I am also working closely with a physiotherapist as well as a personal trainer,” he added.

Since joining the Old Lady, Khedira has made seven competitive appearances including two Champions League fixtures, finding the net once, in a 3-1 victory over Bologna.

“The changes seem to be paying off,” he happily concluded.
