Juventus offer support to hospitalised Zoff

Dino ZoffJuventus have released a statement to offer their support to the club’s former goalkeeper and coach Dino Zoff after they learnt that he was in hospital.

The 73-year-old is in a Rome clinic where he has shown signs of improvement following neurological problems and his life is not thought to be at risk although he had difficulty walking.

“Juventus learnt in these recent moments that the captain, Italy and Bianconeri legend Dino Zoff is going through a difficult moment with his health, although he is on the road to recovery,” read the statement on the club’s official website.

“With Juve, the great Dino from Friuli with his cool temperament and immense ability between the posts won the Scudetto six times, the Coppa Italia twice, one UEFA Cup, and he took part in two European Cup finals and one Intercontinental Cup final during his 11-year long career at the club.

“As a coach, he guided us to the Coppa Italia win at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza and to the unforgettable 1990 UEFA Cup triumph.

“As a European champion from 1968 and a World Champion after the 1982 competition in Spain, Dino is used to never giving up.

“Dino is a strong man and a legend, we are all supporting him.”
