Lazio striker Miroslav Klose is happy with the attitude his side showed against Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk and fully trusts coach Stefano Pioli.

The Biancocelesti won 3-1 against the Ukrainians in the Europa League on Thursday night meaning they qualify for the knockout stages of the competition, after stopping a Dnipro comeback at 1-1.

“We gave the performance I expected,” Klose told Sky Sport Italia.

“It was important to have the right attitude, it could have gone wrong but we had the right attitude to play the game.”

The Germany international then discussed the formation the side played on Thursday, with Alessandro Matri joining him up front.

“I prefer it that way because there is more than just one attacker in the area,” he said.

“If there is one attacker in the area attacking the front post, then the over post has to be covered too.”

Due to their European involvement, the match schedule for Lazio is busy with games commonly taking place twice a week, but Klose has faith that Pioli’s way of coaching will mean they won’t be affected.

“It’s hard to say, but the league is more important and we know playing every three to four days is not easy,” said the 37-year-old.

“It takes all the players, we are changing so much and maybe we lose out on pace but I believe in the work of Pioli and his staff so much.

“We are a team and we get things out of games, the league points will come because we are strong.”
