Lazio could appoint former Italy World Cup winning coach Marcelo Lippi to replace current Biancocelesti boss Stefano Pioli.

Le Aquile have failed to win any of their last four Serie A games, losing three and drawing one, a run which also included a 2-0 defeat to bitter rivals Roma.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb.com, Lazio president Claudio Lotito is said to have lost patience with the former Bologna coach, and is set to fire the 50-year-old if the Biancocelesti fail to win their next two games.

Former Juventus coach Lippi is being lined up to take the hot-seat at the Olimpico if the former Chievo boss is fired, and was considered for the position back in 2012 before making the move to China with Guangzhou Evergrande.

The 67-year-old has been out of work since leaving his position of director of football at the Southern China Tigers, having previously coached the club to three domestic league titles in 2012, 2013 and 2014, as well as one cup success in 2012, and also captured the Asian Champions League in 2013.

The Roman giants face Dnipro at the Stadio Olimpico in the Europa League on Thursday, before a trip to face Empoli on Sunday evening in Serie A, a fixture which could see the end of the Parma born coach’s 18-month reign at the Olimpico.
