Lazio may face competition from Premier League side Norwich City as they look to secure the signature of Olympique Marseille’s defender Nicolas Nkoulou.

The cash-strapped French side turned down a bid of around €8 million from Lyon in the summer, but with the Cameroonian’s contract set to expire in the summer, may be willing to cash in when the transfer window reopens.

Should Lazio make a move for the defender, the English newspaper The Daily Mirror reports, they would alert Premier League side Norwich City, who have also been trailing the 25-year-old for a number of months.

The Biancocelesti hold a long-standing interest in the defender, and may look to force the French side’s hand and bring him to the Stadio Olimpico in January.

Nkoulou joined Les Phoceens in 2011 and has played over 140 games since, as well as being part of the side that finished Ligue 1 runners-up to Paris Saint-Germain in 2012-13.
