Mandzukic JuventusManuel Pellegrini is not satisfied with his Manchester City side after they fell to a 1-0 loss in Turin against Juventus.

A solitary goal that came from Croatian Mario Mandzukic was enough to send the Citizens back to England with no points and also fell to second in Group D.

“Both sides played well but we were unlucky,” Pellegrini stated in his post match press conference.

“We had ample opportunities to equalise,” he added.

“The Group isn’t over yet though, we still have to keep an eye on what Juventus do in Seville.

“The Spaniards will be aiming to win to go into the Europa League.

The visitors mustered up a good few efforts including Fernando’s header being pushed onto the post and Raheem Sterling’s badly timed strike.

“We had many opportunities.”

“What is vital is to score the games’ opening goal and we didn’t do that.

“There we several occasions we were caught napping but we tried to keep the game balanced.

“I am not satisfied though, despite it being a tough game.

“The players have not stepped up to the mark when they needed to.”

The City boss took the time to recognise the talent on show in the Bianconeri team on both occasions that the Serie A side defeated his team this season.

“In both games Juventus have displayed a similar style.”

“They had a little luck before but today we played better.

“Juventus have great players, though, it is no surprise.”
