Manchester United have reportedly targeted Roma defender Ashley Cole as they look to bolster their defensive ranks.
Cole is known to have fallen out of favour in the Italian capital after failing to make an impact following his move from Chelsea in 2014. With United defender Luke Shaw expected to miss the whole of this season through injury, boss Louis Van Gaal could look towards Cole as a cheap alternative to provide cover for the left-back position.
According to the The Sun, the Red devils are looking to snap up the 34-year-old on a six month deal as a short term defensive solution.
The former Chelsea player was also linked to a move to Tyneside after rumours emerged that Newcastle United were thought to be after him.
Cole has made a meagre 11 Serie A appearances during his time with the Giallorossi.
