Inter midfielder Felipe Melo has insisted that his tough attitude has been integral to his life’s achievements so far.

Attributed the nickname ‘Pitbull’ due to his passionate and often aggressive style of play, the Nerazzurri’s summer signing also showed a softer side by declaring that is certainly a family man at heart..

“I am a person who loves his family a lot,” Melo told FoxSports Brasil during an in-depth interview. “I love my children, my wife and my parents.

“I am a family man.”

He continued: “I am a fighter off the pitch because otherwise I would not be where I am today, it is not easy.”

“I made great sacrifices to be here and I consider myself a fighter in life everyday.”

The Brazilian enforcer signed for the Nerazzurri in August and has since made eight Serie A appearances, registering one goal and one red card.
