Clarence SeedorfNewcastle United are considering former AC Milan boss Clarence Seedorf as a potential candidate to replace under-fire head coach Steve McClaren.

The Magpies have endured a horrific start to the season, as they sit in 17th position in the Premier League table, one point outside the relegation zone.

English newspaperMetro, suggest that the Dutchman has been approached by the club and that McClaren is on the verge of being dismissed as the head coach.

Further misery piled on top of Newcastle this past Saturday, as they were hammered 3-0 at home at the hands of high-flying Leicester City.

Seedorf only has a few months experience as a coach after Milan sacked him at the end of the 2013/14 season despite collecting impressive 35 points from 19 Serie A games in charge.

The former Real Madrid midfielder enjoyed an illustrious playing career, as he won honours including four Champions Leagues, one La Liga title, two Serie A titles, as well as being placed in AC Milan’s official Hall of Fame.
