Roma midfielder reported to police as hotel guests confuse him for terrorist

Following the horrific acts that took place in Paris, authorities have been on high alert all over Europe. Belgium has especially been under the spotlight after it was discovered that the ‘mastermind’ behind Friday’s atrocities was Belgian.

Belgium international and Roma star Radja Nainggolan was taking some time off, visiting his hometown, Antwerp, after the Belgium-Spain friendly was cancelled due to suspected terrorist activity. Guests at the hotel Nainggolan was staying at called the police to report him as a suspicious person in the area.

Authorities rushed the scene, but immediately recognized Nainggolan upon arrival and expressed their sincere apologies.

Since the bombings and shootings in Paris, France, two international friendlies have been cancelled.

The Belgium v Spain match was cancelled in addition to the Germany v Netherlands match, where local police discovered a ‘concrete security threat’.

Also, away fans have been banned from Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 matches for the time being, along with revamped security in soccer matches across Europe.
