INTER-FROSINONE-DIRETTA-BIABIANY-ICARDIRoberto Mancini’s Inter went clear at the top of Serie A this weekend, with Fiorentina falling below Napoli into third place.

The weekend’s action got underway on Saturday evening as Bologna‘s resurgence under Roberto Donadoni continued, with the Rossoblu earning a 2-2 draw against Scudetto hopefuls Roma.

An Adam Masina strike gave the hosts the lead before the Giallorossi’s Bosnian duo of Miralem Pjanic and Edin Dzeko both converted from the penalty spot to put Rudi Garcia’s side in front. Mattia Destro stole a point with a penalty of his own late on, meaning Donadoni is yet to taste defeat since taking over at Bologna.

Saturday’s second game was the most high-profile fixture of the round, which saw solitary Paulo Dybala goal seal the points for Juventus in a 1-0 win over AC Milan.

Inter thumped Frosinone with a 4-0 scoreline at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Sunday evening, as they responded to criticisms that they are boring, having only found the net more than once on one other occasion this season, which, incidentally, also came against one of Serie A’s other newcomers, Carpi.

More impressively, the Biscione has four different goalscorers on the night as Mauro Icardi, Jonathan Biabiany, Jeison Murillo and Marcelo Brozovic all finding the net.

The win saw the San Siro side leapfrog the Viola to the summit of Serie A as the latter were held 2-2 by Empoli in Sunday’s Tuscan Derby at the Stadio Artemio Franchi. Things could have been a lot worse for Paulo Sousa’s team as they trailed 2-0 at the break, having allowed Marko Livaja and Marcel Buechel give the Azzurri the lead, before substitute Nikola Kalinic bagged a brace to rescue a point for the hosts.

Further change near the top saw Maurizio Sarri’s Partenopei climb into second with a 2-0 win as goals from the unstoppable Gonzalo Higuain and Lorenzo Insigne fired them to an away victory over the (still) winless Hellas Verona.

Lazio‘s difficult start to the 2015-16 campaign continued with Palermo leaving the Stadio Olimpico having earned a 1-1 draw. Antonio Candreva scored a second half penalty to cancel out an eary Edoardo Goldanigo goal for the visitors.

Genoa and Sassuolo played out the most exciting end to any match this week, with the Grifone ultimately celebrating a 2-1 victory. Domenico Berardi and Diego Perotti both saw red in the first half, leaving both sides with 10 men befor Tomas Rincon put Genoa ahead early in the second half. A 90th minute Francesco Acerbi goal looked to share the spoils on the day, before Leonardo Pavoletti immediatly headed home the winner for Gian Piero Gasperini’s boys.

Serie A newcomers and struggling Carpi remain at the foot of the table after being unable to pick up any points against Chievo. Roberto Inglese and Riccardo Meggiorini ave the Flying Donkeys a comfortable half time lead, meaning Alessandro Gamberini’s second half goal was nothing more than a consolation for the Biancorossi as the game finished 2-1.

Daniele Baselli enjoyed a successful return to the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d’Italia as he helped his Torino team to a 1-0 victory over former club Atalanta, condemning La Dea to their first defeat of the season in Bergamo. The young Italian midfielder assisted a Cesare Bovo goal, which proved to be decisive for Il Toro.

Sampdoria fell to a 1-0 defeat away to Udinese in Vincenzo Montella first game in charge. Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu netted the only goal for the Zebrette before Ervin Zukanovic was dismissed in the dying moments for the Blucerchiati.
