Gaston Ramirez - UruguaySouthampton midfielder Gaston Ramirez has instructed his agent to try to engineer a move back to Serie A.

The Uruguayan International is keen on a return to the country in which he made  a name for himself, after he spent two successful years with Bologna between 2010-12, before he made his €15 million move to the Premier League.

“[Gaston] Ramirez has suffered from numerous physical injuries during his time in England,” said Pablo Betancourt to Radio Neptune.

Ramirez scored 15 goals in 60 appearances for the Rossoblu, having arrived in Italy from Penarol in 2010 for a figure close to €2.5m and his agent has now confirmed that he is dreaming of a return to the Stadio Dall’Ara.

“He wants to return to Italy, he thinks about it constantly, in particular he’d love to play for Bologna again,” his agent continued.

Southampton paid almost five times the amount Bologna paid for Ramirez, but his agent has insisted that money isn’t an incentive for the 24-year-old.

“It is not a question of money, he wants to be valued. Bologna is his priority but we will listen to offers,” his agent concluded.

At 24, the midfielder wants to reignite his career, having not been called up for his countries’ latest international squad.
