heavy defeat to Barcelona stop their progression this season.

The Giallorossi played the Spanish giants on Tuesday night in the Champions League but they were outplayed and beaten 6-1 at the Camp Nou, with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez getting two goals each.

“We tried to hit back, but it was a difficult evening against a great team,” Szczesny told Mediaset Premium after the game.

Despite the loss, the Polish international stated his desire to not let the game stop the squad in their tracks.

“Tonight we’ll go to sleep and tomorrow we’ll prepare for the match against Atalanta, out intention is to move forward,” he said.

In the other game in Group E of the evening, BATE Borisov and Bayer Leverkusen drew 1-1, meaning Roma can still gain qualification in their next Champions League game, should they beat BATE at the Stadio Olimpico on 9 December.

“[The draw] was the only positive of the evening,” Szczesny said.

“Now we will try to win [against BATE].”
