Fiorentina defender Nenad Tomovic has revealed that the Gigliati will give their all in their Europa League clash with Basel on Thursday as they look to secure a spot in the next round of the tournament.

The Viola currently sit in second place in Group I with six points, leaving them just three points behind group leaders Basel and two points ahead of Lech Poznan and Belenenses, and the 28-year-old insists that Thursday’s match will be the most important of their season thus far, as it could determine their future in Europe for the rest of the campaign.

Tomovic spoke to Sky Sport Italia 24 on Wednesday about the importance of securing a victory against Basel, while also commenting on his future at Fiorentina and their 2-2 draw with Empoli on Sunday.

“Tomorrow is a crucial game for us and for our journey in the Europa League this season,” said the Serbia international.

“We are fully aware of how big this game is and we will do everything we can to win it, so we can have a calmer final group stage match day.

“It will be very crucial for us to get a victory. It’s the most important match of the season thus far and it’s the hardest on paper.

“However, we’re aware of this and we remain focused and ready. I’m sure that we can bring home a good result tomorrow.

“My future? It’s too early to speak about it but I hope to remain here at the end of the season.

“Our draw with Empoli? Following an international break, you have to adapt quickly and prepare for the next game immediately.

“Luckily we were able to show our hunger to earn a good result and were able to get the draw. We want to remain as high up in the standings as possible.”
