Palermo FrosinonePalermo coach Davide Ballardini was pleased with his side’s 4-1 win at home to Frosinone on Sunday, hailing the victory as well deserved.

The heavy scoreline sends Palermo clear of the relegation zone and comes as Ballardini’s first win at the club since his appointment at the end of November, and the coach maintains that he never held doubts over his team’s ability to win.

“We played so well and created so much,” Ballardini told Sky Sport Italia after the game.

“We deserved to win the game.

“I have a team of men, serious professionals and capable players. I have never had doubts over their commitment.

“However, there is still a long way to go in the season”

Youngster Uros Djurdjevic was given a rare start for the game ahead of Alberto Gilardino, though the gamble didn’t exactly pay off as the 21-year-old failed to find the back of the net and was eventually brought off for the Italian veteran, who went on to score Palermo’s fourth goal.

“During the week I had watched Djurdjevic in training and seen him play well,” Ballardini explained.

“That’s why I decided to let him play.”
